Connie Green is a professor in the Department of Reading Education and Special Education. She has been a faculty member at Appalachian for 25 years. She teaches Children's Literature and Language Arts in the reading program and Families in the Educational Process and Emergent Literacy in the Birth through Kindergarten program. She has twelve years teaching experience in the public schools, primarily at the kindergarten and pre-kindergarten levels.
Research Interests
Connie's research interests include family involvement in emergent literacy, religious diversity and children's literature, and learning about the immigration through children's literature. She is the co-author of Developing Partnerships with Families through Children's Literature and Religious Diversity and Children's Literature. She is the author of The Lydia Year: Learning from Pre-Kindergarten Children in Rural Appalachia, based on her experiences teaching young children and working with families.
