Rebecca Jordan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Reading Education and Special Education (RESE) at Appalachian State University. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (2016), where she studied early childhood, special education, and literacy, and M.Ed. from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (2012), where she studied Reading Education, and a BA from the University of Richmond (2007), where she studied Education, Spanish, and Russian. She is certified to teach Reading K-12, General Education K-6, and ESL K-12. She has worked as a classroom teacher, instructional coach, and program specialist. Her research interests include pre-service and in-service teacher knowledge, skills, and dispositions; beginning reading development, assessment and instruction; writing development and instruction; and literacy instruction of students with developmental disabilities. She has presented at the international and national level, and her published work can be found in journals such as Teaching and Teacher Education, Learning Disabilities Research and Practice, and Literacy Research and Instruction.
