Shuai Zhang is a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Reading Education and Special Education at Appalachian State University. He earned a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration on Reading and Literacy Education at Texas A & M University in 2019. Before earning his doctorate, he was awarded two graduate-level certificates in Advanced Research Method and Data Mining at Texas A&M University. As part of his service work, he is helping young children with dyslexia and general reading disabilities at Tier 2 and 3 at local elementary schools. He has presented at international and national level conferences, and his published peer-reviewed articles can be found in high-impact literacy journals such as Scientific Studies of Reading, Journal of Experimental Child Psychology, Dyslexia: An International Journal of Research and Practice, Journal of Neurolinguistics, Reading and Writing: An Interdisciplinary Journal, Journal of Writing Research, and other journals.
