Schedule a tour! The RCOE's James Center for Appalachian Educators' organizes tours to recruit, support, and retain teacher education majors during their time at Appalachian State. Come visit the reading clinic, take a guided tour of the RESE department and College of Education building, attend a class, meet with a faculty member, and more!

Graduate Assistant Interest Form- 2021-2022

The office of Reading Education and Special Education offers 2 Work Study Positions and 6-8 Graduate Assistant Positions each year. We offer summer Graduate Assistantships as well. 

Requirements from the Graduate School: 

Summer Assistantships: Summer GAs, TAs, and RAs must be degree-seeking graduate students, and enrolled
in at least 2 graduate hours at the main campus in Boone. Students in their first term of enrollment must be
unconditionally admitted (i.e., not provisional); students must be in good standing (3.0 GPA and no failing
grades).

Academic Year Assistantships: Students must be graduate, degree-seeking and enrolled full-time (9 hours) at
the main campus in Boone. Students in their first term of enrollment must be unconditionally admitted (i.e., not
provisional); students must remain in good standing (3.0 GPA and no failing grades), and complete all of their
coursework each term to continue to hold their assistantships.
